Objective: Based on the perspective of the sociology of illness experience, we examined the coping strategies of people living with HIV(PLWH) and the supportive resources they obtained through social network. Methods: A systematic review of literatures related to PLWH, coping strategies, and social support. Results: The social stress of PLWH can be divided into four dimensions: emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal. PLWH can obtain support to reduce the social stress through their social network and mainly from family and friends, social service agency, hospital, and government. Different types of support provided by different network objects. Conclusion: PLWH can obtain different social support from varies objects of social network as needed. This finding is rarely mentioned in related studies. |
