Other than the risk factors of the host, the environment, and antibiotics and preventative measures such as eating cranberries, anthocyanin et al., themost common cause ofurinary tract infections (UTI) is the use of catheter. Inappropriate catheter indwelling or inappropriate care that ignores the infection control policy easily leads to UTI. Therefore, catheter removal should be performed as soon as the patient’s condition improves.During the period of catheter insertion and indwelling, hand-washing, aseptic techniques, routine perineal care, and closed drainage system maintenance must be practiced accordingly to decrease the risk of UTI. |
