The purpose of this study was to investigate the symptom distress from the side effect, themanagement process, and its effect on patients who received chemotherapy in the outpatient departmentof a medical center.We adopted a structured questionnaire, interviewed and collected thedata. 119 patients were recorded in the outpatient chemotherapy center. The results were as thefollowing: After the chemothaerapy, these were in average nine side effects found in each case,and ten critical symptomdistresses including anorexia, insomnia, vomiting, hair loss, pain, incontinence,oral ulcer, constipation, nausea, and fatigue. The main behaviors treatment were medication, adjustingdiet and physical activities. This study suggests that more information pamphlets on side effectsymptoms and adoptable managements or contact methods should be provided in order to improvethe side effect distress of each case after returning home. |
