There are some similarities in nature among museums, libraries, and archives. The barrier among these institutions is beginning to fade because of digitalization of their collections through employing Information and Communication Technologies. As a result, it is crucial and possible for them to integrate together. This article first illustrates the rationale for the aforementioned integration. Inclusion of museums of science and technology, some important cases of integration among museums, libraries, and archives are then reviewed. Afterwards, this article introduces the integral works both virtually and physically on artifacts, books, documents, and archives by the National Science and Technology Museum, Taiwan. Finally, after reviewing and introducing the aforementioned case, the author concludes that it is a possible approach to enhance resource integration among institutions of cultural heritage by amendments to the rules and making collection policy and procedures in individual institutions. |
