This article mainly discusses the integration of three knowledge fields-archives, libraries, and museums. All of these three knowledge fields are cultural heritage. As the emergence of virtual collection brought by digitalization, the barrier between these three categories of knowledge fields fade gradually and the possibility for them to integrate together comes into existence. For example, the LAC is a combination of former National Library of Canada and National Archives of Canada in 2004. In the United Kingdom, all of archives, libraries, and museums are under the same administrative system. This article compares the differences between integration models of cultural heritage in two countries, and discusses the trend of integration of these three knowledge fields. |
