本文旨在探討紐西蘭政府的檔案鑑定制度與清理制度，主要分析其檔案保存政策、鑑定觀念、清理授權制度、鑑定途徑、價值衡量基準、鑑定重點及屆期清理方式，有關國家檔案鑑選、機關檔案鑑定及電子檔案的清理作法亦併予探討。

The main purpose of the article is to explore the systems of record s appraisal and disposal in New Zealand. The study concentrates on recordkeeping policies, appraisal concepts, disposal authorisation, appraisal approach, value measurement, focus of appraisal, and final disposal. The appraisal of national archives and agency records, as well as disposal of electronic records, are also analyzed.
