The purpose of this descriptive study was to understand (1)the cardiovascular critically ill(CVSI) patients' family needs and satisfaction of needs. (2)Nurses' perceived family needs of CVSI patients and their satisfaction. The results indicated: (1)the family member's perceptions of their needs and level of needs satisfaction. Each were ranked in priority as follows information, proximity, assurance, comfort and support. (2)ranked in order of Nurse's perception of family needs were comfort, assurance, information, proximity and support. Nurse's perception of satisfactory level of family needs ranked as follow information, proximity, assurance, support and comfort. The authors suggest this: (1)emphasize the importance of clinical nurses provision of patient's information for increasing satisfaction of family needs; (2)arrange for associated education of mental support for clinical nurses to prepare family care in the clinical practice. |
