The objective of this study is to use digital technology to produce videotape that prevents injuries caused by sharp medical supplies. This study used experimental methods and questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of this teaching media. The contents of this video had been amended twelve times and the production process was highly professional. The specialists?satisfaction level on the first version of the video was assessed. Under the specialists?recommendations, the video had been amended twice before the final production. The effectiveness of this teaching media was assessed by the knowledge questionnaires, and the visual effectiveness was assessed by satisfaction level questionnaires. The experiment subjects were 32 new personnel recruited to our hospital between January 1st, 2002 and November 30th, 2002. The experimental subjects were assigned alternatively to experimental group and control group based on the order of recruitment dates. The attributes of the subjects in both the experimental and control group had no significant differences, as shown in the χ2 test. The results of the pre-test knowledge questionnaires for both groups also showed no significant differences. The data of the knowledge questionnaires of the experimental group were analyzed by pair t test. The pre-test and post-test results showed significant differences . The average score of the post-test of the experimental group was higher than that of the pre-test. There were also significant differences between the scores of the post-tests of the experimental and control groups .The average score of the post-test of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. The data from the satisfaction level questionnaires showed that experimental subjects found the video helpful for them. The level of helpfulness scored 4.72-4.78, which was between the helpful and very helpful levels. The visual clarity, video contents, and the overall satisfaction scored 4.37-4.47, which was between satisfied and very satisfied levels. The length of the video scored 3.75, which was between acceptable/moderate and satisfied levels. Since the experimental subjects did not provide any suggestions for improvement, the video production is now officially finished. |
