The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the chemotherapy program on nurses?knowledge and attitudes toward chemotherapy. The time-series one-group quasi-experimental research design was adapted as guide for this study. Questionnaire which included demographic data, knowledge of chemotherapy and attitude toward chemotherapy were used as a tool to collect data. 44 nurses working in a medical center in central Taiwan were selected by stratified random sampling. Test was given before chemotherapy program(pre-test), one follow-up test(post-test 1)was given after the program was completed and second test (post-test 2)was given 3weeks after the program. Due to the distributions of these data, descriptive statistics, parametric statistics and non- parametric analysis were performed. The results indicated that the knowledge and attitude score in post-test 1 were higher than post-test 2. Meanwhile, it was higher in post-test 2 than pre-educated period. It shows chemotherapy program could improve nurses?knowledge and attitudes toward chemotherapy. These findings may provide an effective and systematic teaching program for clinical nursing educators to improve the efficiency of nursing continuing education program. |
