Since 1999, our intensive care unit has been established, the nursing education for the patients and their family members was predominatingly performed at the bed side, including individual instruction from the inauguration of our unit. However, the nursing education achieved only 33.7% satisfaction from the survey of patients and their families. From July, 2001 to May, 2002 we adapted a better intervention of nursing education according to the systemic theory. The project was investigated in three stages, including preparation stage, conduction stage and evaluation stage. During the 6 months project, 50 subjects were recorded. The satisfaction of patients and their families was remarkably increased from 33.7% to 80%. The achieved rate of nursing education by the nursing staff was enhanced from 50% to 98%. We suggest that the intervention be used in job training nurses by video disc or nursing handbook to instruct in team nursing education. The intervention of the project is not only applicable to performing correct nursing education, but also improving the satisfaction of patients and their families. |
