The purpose of this article is to illustrate a schizophrenia patient who was admitted to an acute ward and was found to be with nine nursing problems, such as altered thought process, altered sensory perception, high risk for violence, and ineffective family coping, after overall evaluation with Neuman systems model. By the process of nursing, using the therapeutic interpersonal relationship, the symptom intervention techniques and the coping skill, the patient had significant improvements including decrease of violent behavior and interpersonal interaction. In the process, the family were also provided with appropriate coping skill and mental support. As a result, not only the patient's disease was improved, but also the functionality of the family can operate again and the quality of the family life can be upgraded.By means of this study regarding the nursing experience during caring a schizophrenic patient in acute stage and assisting family member to upgrade the ability of coping skills, we hope our colleagues can benefit from it. |
