Transit Oriented Development (TOD) refers to the utilization of mass transit hubs and stations as the development core to lead the efficient and mixed utilization of land. With TOD implementation, urban lands can be used in multiple ways, such as for station facilities, commerce, housing, offices, and accommodation. Additionally, while implementing TOD, it is very common for government agencies and private companies to cooperate in land development by operating a Private Finance Initiative (PFI). In Taiwan, with the recent development of the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) ([ 捷運], in the original text), development along the MRT through public-private partnership has flourished. |
