The market of Taiwan aquaculture products has been hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak. The production prices, such as tilapia, milkfish, sea bass and grouper, continue to be low down since the beginning of the year. The international trade of aquatic products is highly liberalized. The major aquatic products export countries of Taiwan, including Japan, China, the United States, and the European Union, are the hardest hit areas of the epidemic. Taiwan main aquaculture products have a high percentage of exports. The export market of the products has also been severely impacted, which has also affected the domestic wholesale market and caused an imbalance in the supply and demand. This article collected production and market statistics to analyze the changes of domestic and export market price and quantity of Taiwan main aquaculture products, such as tilapia, milkfish, sea bass, grouper, and threadfin, as well as to analyze the market response of government relevant measures, such as the pond rearrangement, sparse farming, postpone stocking of fry and a series of promotional activities. Finally, relevant recommendations were made based on the conclusions. |
