With the rapidly growing aging population, the health issue of the elderly has been more emphasized. The sarcopenia caused by the loss of muscle mass due to ageing has gradually disabled the elderly. Several studies revealed that resistance exercise could slow the progress of sarcopenia, and increase the strength of muscle. Good nutritional intake could also slow the loss of muscle mass. We aim to find the relationship between effectiveness of resistance exercise and clinical manifestations of sarcopenia in the elderly by literature review. Hoping to find an appropriate exercise intervention to enhance the physical activity, to delay the progress of sarcopenia , and to improve the quality of life. |
