Food industry self-management is an important part of improving food safety management. According to Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation, specific size for the food additives industries shall implement self-testing and enact food safety monitoring plan. In this study, 41 food additives importers in 2019 based on the basic version of the Food Safety Monitoring Plan Guidelines announced by the Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) on October 29, 2018. The results showed that 39 of 41 food additives importers have performed mandatory independent testing. Local health bureau will conduct follow up inspection for the remaining 2 food additives importers. For food safety monitoring plan in food additives importers, the top three priorities for improvement are as follows: hazard analysis, recycling and destruction of the products, and transportation management. Comprehensive results found that some of food additives importers are still not familiar with the relevant regulations. However, the familiarity with the regulations had improved through counseling visit. The results revealed the importance of conducting regulation training constantly. In the future, TFDA will continue educate food additives importers by holding conferences, lectures and developing auxiliary tools that help them comply with the regulations, as well as improve their self-management capabilities. |
