Purpose: This article analyzed the website traffic data of the Taiwan Association of Family Medicine (TAFM) to provide complete and comprehensive information for website improvement specifically for TAFM and generally other associations or social groups.
Methods: We used “Google Analysis” to record the TAFM website traffic data since December, 2018, and analyzed the data collected during the period from January 1 to December 31, 2019. Items analyzed included web user sessions, pageviews, traffic sources, sessions by device, and sessions by country.
Results: During the period of analysis, total web user sessions were 169,203 with a daily average of 464 sessions. The total pageviews were 1,707,057 with a daily average of 4,677 pageviews. The most common traffic sources were from organic search, accounting for 66.7% (117,748 times). The most used devices were mobile devices, accounting for 49.26% (84,139 times). Most of the users were from Taiwan (93.39% or 158,459 users), followed respectively by the U.S. (2.84%) and Hong-Kong (1.04%).
Conclusion: The TAFM official website is an active website with stable traffic. Increase in user sessions and pageviews is detected when there are yearly or other special events. Future efforts should be directed to keeping offering reader-friendly webpage formats for mobile devices, operating social media more actively, and providing more international information for users from all over the world so as to better familiarize visitors with Taiwan’s family medicine system and promote citizen’s health knowledge.
