The aim of this study was to establish a model of digital portrait for human-animal hybrid based on the FTC model while applying "paintings of amusement" as a theme in the creative process. Due to the use of computer software in the technical aspect of human-animal appearances, this model provides reference criteria for the study of human-animal portraits. The relevant aspects that emerged from the literature review include (1) the basic theory of realistic portrayal and technological simulacrum; (2) symbolic vocabulary and meaning of animal form; (3) heterogeneity of human-animal hybrid images. Through the appropriation of visual element of human-animal technological simulacrum, the identity concepts of the multiple faces in different time and space were discussed. Moreover, it is expected that the visual codes and symbolic meanings conveyed in the works could inspire the audiences to contemplate upon visual texts from multiple perspectives regarding the correlation among visual metaphor of technological simulations, human-animal portrait of identity shapes, and life concerns of genetic technologies. This research was designed to explore the value and contribution of combining "technological simulacrum", "animal symbolism", and "human-animal hybrid" in digital portraits, as well as to raise suggestions for future researches.
