While contract termination or cancellation (hereinafter referred to as "termination") occurs in public construction projects, it not only postpones the completion date of the contract but also increases the budget due to subsequent re-tendering process. In this case, it has been acting as a waste of government resources and shows no sign of stopping. This study attempts to organize the patterns of mistakes that cause contract termination and focuses on corresponding strategies to recognize high risk factors of contract termination. This is done through literature reviews and professional discussions about the factors of contract termination. In order to reduce the losses caused by contract termination, corresponding strategies should be prepared to deal with high risk factors of contract termination in advance. In addition, this study will propose average time needed for subsequent procedures after termination for organizing party’s reference.
