The Taipei Marathon was held for the first time in 1986. The competition event was discontinued during construction of Taipei MRT. Fortunately, it was resumed in 2001. 2016 marks the 30th years and the 19th race of Taipei Marathon. The Taipei Marathon is a professional marathon event in Taiwan. However, “a routine game”, “the running route behind riverside”, and “the impact of traffic control rights and interests” are three things to be criticized. Most participants in Taiwan join the half marathon and short distance running events. Compared to foreign countries, the number of participants for the full marathon is still far behind. This means that Taipei Marathon is currently in the transitional period of "sports-for-all" or " athletic sports" and it is also an important subject to discuss. In the light of this, this research was based on document analysis to explore the race spindles. This study proposed five suggestions for the future Taipei Marathon. The first, "positioning and shaping the image of Taipei Marathon "; the second point "enhancing the identity of Taipei Marathon"; the third one, "combining with the characteristics of urban and tourism’’; the forth, "planning a suitable running route"; and the last suggestion, "strengthening the marketing and broadcasting". The research provides a reference for a better future Taipei Marathon and competing with the six major marathons in the World. |
