There are two approaches, including adaptation and mitigation, to achieving the notion of resilience. In this paper, we propose the project called Smart Bio-Filter to integrate those two approaches in order to shape the concept of a resilient building. The Smart Bio-Filter consists of a bionic mechanism, eco filtering, and smart response, which can turn the building façade into an adaptive skin. The system of Smart Bio-Filter is based on the Dynamo engine which supports open data structures to develop the adaptive control system. Two sub-systems including the central control system and distributed control system define the practical functions associated with adaptation and mitigation. We also fabricate the kinetic components of adaptive skin and link it to our adaptive control system. The outcomes not only demonstrate the potential application of resilient buildings, but also inspire the development of green and smart resilient cities in the future. |
