Spatial information can be quantified based on Space syntax theory created by UCL Professor Bill Hillier by its spatial analytical tool (convex space, axial lines, crowds moving, etc.), so that the future spatial use tendency can be predicted before or after space built. In this study, this theory is turned into a spatial parametric shaping design method of “Form Follows Evaluation”, which offers designers exploring on spatial form in terms of space use patterns. In generative parametric modeling, the spatial form creating can be constructed by the input information to redefine the parameters of spatial components. This paper discussed the relationship between the pattern form of spatial configurations (tree and ring patterns of spatial linking types, symmetry or asymmetry of the spatial unites) and spatial intelligibility, the parameter of space syntax, which can determine the spatial configuration will be the maze or not) and proposed a parametric design method which generated entity space from the virtual spatial configurations. Finally, this paper compared the observation of user distribution of realexhibition with the analysis results, to verify the accuracy of behavioral tendency prediction. |
