This study examined the influences of team structural characteristics (i.e., task interdependence) and social traits (psychological similarity) on team outcomes (team performance and team satisfaction), incorporating the mediating role of team trust as well as the moderating role of team cohesion. Results from 47 work teams (168 employees) indicated that both task interdependence and psychological similarity positively affected team outcomes, while team trust mediated their relationships. Results also indicated that the relationship between task interdependence and team trust was moderated by team cohesion, such that task interdependence was strongly related to team trust when team cohesion was high. Based on these findings, theoretical and practical implications are discussed. |
