The electronic check (e-check) application is a significant issue in electronic commerce. Chaum first proposed the electronic check mechanism in 1988, after which methods based on RSA or ElGamal improved the process. However, these e-check methods use exponential operations to meet security requirements, so they have a heavy computational cost. In order to reduce the computational cost, we propose a novel electronic check mechanism using an elliptic curve cryptosystem. Our proposed mechanism meets the security requirements of electronic checks and has low computational costs compared to some other methods. |
