Reinforced concrete (RC) buildings deteriorate over time; consequently, maintenance strategies for their serviceability and safety should be arranged in accordance with their life-cycles. In addition to assessing the durability of an RC building, an appropriate maintenance strategy can be used to prolong its service life or maintain its serviceability and safety. However, the assessment method of an RC building’s durability uses paper documents to record the related assessment information, and the information is not easy to maintain as time goes by. Therefore, this study proposes durability assessment and maintenance system that consists of several modules for auto-processing the information, including integrating and search functions. Additionally, the proposed system is connected to Building Information Modeling (BIM) to visualize the assessment data. Furthermore, by making use of the quantitative index of durability obtained from the detailed assessment, an appropriate maintenance strategy can be suggested to prolong the building’s service life. The proposed system also suggests maintenance strategies corresponding to various deterioration causes and degrees. Finally, a case study is used to investigate the application of the system proposed in this paper. |
