Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the characteristics and utilization of traditional Chinese medicine among patients with infertility. Methods: We retrospectively collected medical records of patients with infertility at the Taoyuan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital between 2004 and 2014. Data including demographic data and traditional Chinese medicine treatment prescriptions were analyzed. Results: Zuo-Gui-Wan (Left Side Replenishing Teapills) (15.36%) and Xiang-Fu ( Cyperi Rhizoma) (6.56%) were the most frequently prescribed herbal formula and single herb, respectively. Con-clusion: According to the results of our research, tonifying the kidney, dispersing stagnated liver Qi, regulating of blood, clearing damp and resolving phlegm are major therapeutic principles guiding infertility treatment. Our data represents the consensus of experts’ knowledge and experience with regard to herbal selection for the treatment of infertility. |
