For adolescent, sufficient physical activity can improve the function of circulorespiratory system, immunity, and bone health, as well as reduce the risks of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and obesity. Therefore, this study aimed to introduce the physical activity guideline of World Health Organization, United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia, United Kingdom and Taiwan to inform the policy makers and intervention designers. The results show that compared with the physical activity guideline of other countries, physical activity recommendation for Taiwan adolescent was lower and no daily recommended steps were provided. In addition, the physical activity recommendations of Taiwan differ between Health Promotion Administration (Ministry of Health and Welfare) and Sports Administration (Ministry of Education). For promoting adolescent to engage in sufficient physical activity, it would be necessary to unify the physical activity recommendation for adolescent in Taiwan. |
