This study investigated the campaign headquarters of 36 legislator candidates in Taiwan, analyzing the spatial configuration of campaign headquarters based on typology theory and topology. It divided the campaign headquarters into two major types with 9 kinds of patterns and established 28 generation rules to generate other functions of the space, and thus constituted a complete spatial organization of the campaign headquarters. In addition, through mathematical analysis of spatial configuration, this study explores the interaction between spatial organization and behavioral activities. The results show that spatial patterns of campaign headquarters between the two major political parties in Taiwan are significantly different. It also found that candidates whose campaign headquarters adopted “Open Type (Type A)” have much greater probability of winning than those who adopted “Control Type (Type B)”. The situation is worth further study in the future. Through the investigation, we were able to understand the various features of the campaign headquarters. The study has also left a recording of this special type of building, which provides information for further study in relevant disciplines in the future. |
