In response to the diversification of teacher education in the 1990s, the mission of the graduate programs in the two departments of technology education in north and south Taiwan has been expanded from both providing further education for school teaches of Living Technology and preparing technology teacher educators. This is a typical case of organizational change occurring in teacher education programs and its change direction has been concerned. This study used bibliometric methods and adopted “department of technology education” as the main keyword to search the abstracts of theses and dissertations completed in 1994-2013 academic years from “National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan.” A total of 1,262 thesis and dissertation abstracts were collected. The automated content mining tool BICOMB was used with SPSS and UCINET to conduct analyses. Four conclusions are made. In addition to the results of this study available to show research trends of technology education and organizational change directions of departments of technology education, the method is also available for other disciplines as well as departments/programs’ reference. |
