The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between retirees' leisure involvement and social support. The researchers took the method of survey. The scales of "leisure involvement" and "social support" were used. There were total 298 participants. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's product-moment correlation and multiple stepwise regression analysis in SPSS 17.0 were employed to examine the collected data. There were three main results in this study. 1. With respect to the score means in leisure involvement, following the high to low were "attraction" (3.85), "centrality" (3.68) and "self-actualization" (3.54) while the score means in social support following the high to low were "information" (3.92), "tool" (3.79) and "affection" (3.72). 2. The correlation coefficient between leisure involvement and social support was .52(p<.05). Also, the correlation coefficients between subscales of leisure involvement and social support were in the range from .31 to .50. 3. Through the multiple stepwise regression analysis, two variables of "attraction" and "affection" could positively predict "social support". Also, suggestions were made in the hope to make this study more contributive. |
