The advancement in informationization causes an increasing requirement of professionals in information sciences, which forwards the development of Information Resource Management (IRM) education and promotes the discipline construction of IRM. This article discusses the relation and difference between information management and IRM. Based on the discipline orientation of IRM, the author's analysis focuses on the goals of construction, the tasks, and the criteria of IRM as a secondary level of discipline. Combining social demands and teaching practices at home as well as researching the curricular constructions of IRM abroad for reference, this study explores the teaching reforms in the enrichment of curricular contents and in the further development of the academic system for graduate programs of IRM. Suggestions and probable policies for the cultivation of professionals in IRM are also put forward for consideration. |
