國內七所研究型大學論文發表概況分析

Research Evaluation of Research-Oriented Universities in Taiwan

本研究以教育部在民國91年遴選的七所研究型大學為研究對象，利用書目計量學方法，透過檢索ESI(Essential Science Indicator)資料庫分析各校近11年來（1993年～2003年）在學術論文質與量方面的綜合表現，以了解國內研究型大學學術研究之表現。本研究所採用之評鑑指標，在量的方面，以論文發表篇數為指標；在質的方面，則以論文被引次數、論文平均被引次數及優質文獻數（包括高被引文章數、熱門文章數及頂尖文章數）為評鑑指標。大致而言，國內研究型大學的論文表現在量和質上均以台灣大學較為優秀，但若以各次領域而言，則各有高下。然而，國內各研究型大學在論文質上的表現則有待加強。

Publications have been regarded as the most significant output indicating research performance of universities. This paper uses ISI Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database to investigate the academic performance of research-oriented universities in Taiwan using bibliometric method from both the quantitative and qualitative perspectives. It collects research data for 11 years from 1993 to 2003. The performance indicators applied in this study includes the number of papers, the number of citations, the average citations per paper, the number of highly cited papers, the number of hot papers, and the number of top papers. The research performance and strength .of those universities are revealed in this study. It is found that National Taiwan University leads among these universities though individual university still shows strengths in various specific fields.
