HIV/AIDS has been one of the major communicable diseases of international concern because it primarily affects younger populations that contribute to the productivity of society. Currently, the disease is incurable, reducing social productivity and even national competitiveness. The development of HIV medications has significantly increased patients’life expectancies and limited the spread of the disease. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030. The World Health Organization (WHO) has envisioned Three Zeros of HIV/AIDS response (zero new HIV infections, zero deaths from AIDS related illness, and zero discrimination). The 90-90-90 treatment target has been proposed in hope that 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive antiretroviral therapy and that 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have undetectable viral load by 2020. |
