Withtheprevalenceofemployingsocialmediaincommunicationbetweenpeople,thephenomenonofpeopleusingsocialmediatocreate,transfer,andshareinformationisbecomingincreasinglypopular.Inthiscontext,thespreadoffakenewsisbecomingincreasinglyfrequent,andinfluencetheoutcomeofmajorsocialevents,suchaspoliticalelections.Consideringtheeffectsofspreadingfakenews,previousstudiesdiscusstheimportanceofimprovingpeople'sinformationandmedialiteracy,teachingindividualstodistinguishmisinformationfromnews.However,theresearcherobservesomepeopleknowinglysharefakenews.Obviously,theydonotcareaboutifthisismisinformationandarehappytoshare.Thishassparkedtheresearcher'scuriosity.Theauthorwanderswhydopeoplesharefakenewswhentheymightknow?Inotherwords,theydon'tcareabouttheauthenticityofthenewstheyshare.Whatarethereasons?AsLaybatsandTredinnick(2016)notewearelivingitissuggestedinanagewherepoliticsnolongerfunctionsthroughrationaldiscourse.Inotherwords,wearenowliveina''post‐truth''eraruledbyemotionalforce.Situatingthisarticleinthismilieu,thispapertriestodiscusswhypeoplesharefakenewbasedontheconceptof''post‐truth''.Thisarticleattemptstoexplainthebehaviorofsharingfakenewsbypeoplefromanalternativepointofview,whichcanexpandthediscussionandexplanationofthedisseminationoffakenews,andposesanumberofquestionstofurtherenrichtheconversations. |
