According to the resource-based view, core competence plays an important role to create values. However, prior research mostly focuses on the explanation and application of core resource. Nowadays, the thinking of creating core competence must be changed in face of dramatic business competition. Indeed, firms' growth is likely to appear bottleneck without spiritual discipline-based core competency. To illustrate this argument, this study draws on a single, longitudinal qualitative case study to explain how an excellent performing group, U-theater, successfully creating brand, social, and educational values based on self-consciousness to uplift spirituality discipline-based core competency. Consequently, for theoretical contribution, this research fills the research gap of ignoring the influence of spiritual aspect on the development of core competence. For practice suggestion, this study addresses firms need to profoundly understand and further apply possible spiritual discipline ways to activate core competence for value creation. |
