The connotation in land ethic or man-and-land relationship, can be manifested by variousfacets in human history, such as natural resources use, ways to sustain livelihood, formulationof values and culture, etc. Through the Study of the Taiwan land ethic in Dutch Era(1624-1662)—changes of indigenous land use and land right in Saccams area as an example, the relationships of man and land use which the land ethic deeply concerned are interacted byformal and informal institutions, such as ordinances, customs, moralization, Dutch autocracy, allocation of political power and land entitlements, that have mutual effects on technology, economy and culture. In order to avoid the irreversible situations on land use andman-and-land relationship, it would be better to trace back the context of history, customs andculture on land use, rather than only have an eye to the advantage of politics or economy. |
