This article described the experience of caring a 3-week-post-partum woman with sudden onset of acute infarction. Her motherhood was interrupted due to limited physical activity and difficulty in swallowing. However, without adequate support from her family, it was even harder for her to deal with physical disability and the change of her role of being a mother. Roy's adaptation theory was applied to evaluate, observe, and collect the information from November 16th to December 14th, 2017. To raise and increase their awareness of the disease, the medical team worked together for family stress-coping strategies and help them to face the role change caused by cerebrovascular accident in a positive way. With the help of individual nursing care and the assistance of medical team members, the case and her family rebuilt their role of parents and family coping ability was elevated. We expected the nursing experience could help clinical staffs to care prenatal or puerperium women with cerebrovascular accident. |
