The Independence of the Netherlands

本文主要在介紹荷蘭脫離西班牙而獨立的過程。首先，我們先將介紹荷蘭的早期歷史，特別是在法蘭克王國統治之下的發展，接著回顧在勃艮第公國統治下的歷史，再來考察神聖羅馬帝國的轉折，然後檢視西班牙的暴虐統治，最後以獨立戰爭的發動、及獨立的確立做結尾。

The purpose of this note is to look into the process of the Netherlands' independence. We shall start with an introduction of its earlier history, with a special focus on the rule of the Kingdom of the Franks. We then examine that under Duchy of Burgundy and that under the Holy Roman Empire. Further, we will examine the brutal rule under the Habsburgs Spain. Finally, we will conclude with the outbreak of the Dutch rebellion and the final settlement of the Dutch independence.
