The introduction of technology to the arts has changed the course of artistic creativity, performance, and audience experience. Techno-theater has sparked off a series of debates involving such topics as virtuality, participation, and somatic experience. Based on the discourse regarding technological aesthetics, this article explores three works of art: The Night of Sodom (Jun-Jieh Wang), Chronicle of Light Year (Tung-Yen Chou), and Render Ghost (NAXS Corporation). This article examines how techno-theater gradually directs the audience into a somatic, immersive experience. It also examines how the immersive experiential aesthetics of contemporary techno-theater alters the role of spectatorship. |
