The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictive factors that affect the South Area Medical Center outpatient women undergoing breast cancer screening. Using a structured questionnaire, 1021 outpatient women aged 45-69 were recruited. Results indicated that the predicting factors of outpatient women receiving breast screening were psychological barriers (β=-0.6, OR=.94) and convenience of transportation (β=0.3; OR = 1.02). In the psychological barriers, the main reason was that women did not understand the inspection process and felt shame. This might be improved by making a screening instructional video about the process of mammography. It could help women understand the inspection process thereby reducing psychological anxiety. Regarding convenience of transportation, it is recommended that the establishment of evening outpatient clinics and flexible arrangements inspection period be considered. Based on the results of this study, it could serve as a reference for other medical centers to increase women's breast cancer screening rates, as well as early detection and early treatment of breast cancer. |
