Background: To explore the treatment effectiveness of intervention program on marital violence offender. Methods: Survey method was used through self report questionnaire aiming at understanding of workers, violence offenders, and victims in view of domestic violence in marriage. Results: In the executive level of the intervention programs, a theoretical basis of "social-cultural" and "family based attribution theory" were applied, while in the presentation of central themes, individual intervention was also emphasized, including cognitive-behavioral and emotional ventilation techniques. In view of the change in violence, significant decrease in frequency of violence was noted, and the change was more significant than the frequency of control. After the intervention programs, the victims' quality of life was improved. Conclusion: Despite the fact that the batters decrease the frequency of violence, this study also revealed discrepancy between the self-reports of violence offenders and victims. Further exploration of the presence of minimization and denial phenomena by violence offenders was needed. The findings of this study should be interpreted with caution due to the limitation of sampling. |
