Institutional caregivers play a vital role on caring for people with disabilities. Knowledge and perception of medication safety of caregivers affect quality care of people with dsiabilities in institutional care. The present study aims to examine the perception and factors associated with medication safety literacy of caregiver working in disability welfare institutions. A cross-sectional study and a structured questionnaire were emplyes to recruit 454 caregivers from 7 disability institutions in the analysis. Results found that the average score of the five core competencies of medication safety literacy was 79.7. Analyzed by multivariate Analyses, this study indicated that factors of education, experience of using drugs or healthy food, medical visit at the right time, chosed regular medical setting, do not use redudent medical treatment, those caregivers have good perceptions on medication safety score. Based on the findings, the caregivers'perceptions on medication safety are fair and needed to impove in the duture. This study highlights that the disability institutions should provide educations on medication safety, safety materials or e-learning classes, to increase caregivers' literacy on medication safety to protect the quality care for people with disabilities. |
