Grounded in Flow Theory developed by Csikszentmihalyi and Csikszentmihalyi (1988), the study modified the Optional Experience Scale developed by Jackson & March (1996) to construct the Marine Recreation Flow Experience Scale based on the result of confirmatory factor analysis. A questionnaire survey was conducted during June 20 to August 10, 2013 on 383 visitors who engaged in marine recreation activities in Penghu. 362 valid questionnaires were collected with an effective rate of 94.5%. The results indicate that the Marine Recreation Optimal Experience Scale proved to possess good convergent validity and discriminate validity. Therefore, the Scale constructed in this research was a first-order-eight-factors model, which includes consistency of challenge and skill, integration with actions, clear objectives, non-obligatory feedback, concentration on challenges, sense of control, lost of self-awareness, and change of time. |
