There are relatively many more significant research outcomes on Yu Kwang-chung (1928-2017)'s creative writings rather than his literary criticism. This article examines his “The New Beginning of Modern Poetry: Reviews of Lo Ch'ing's Ways to Eat a Watermelon”, “A Reading Approach to Modern Poetry ”, and “To Liberate the Confines of Poetry and Painting” in term of poetic imagery, ideas/thoughts and (new) sense and sensibility of Lo Ch'ing's (1948-) poems from the 1970s to the 2000s. The three critical essays highlight Yu is keen in his observation and foresight of his literary criticism. |
