Although Internet technology provides people a convenient environmentto share resources and communicate with each other, it also points outthe importance of Internet safety for children. How children not only canenjoy the advantages of Internet technology, but they also can protect theirsafety by themselves. It will be a critical issue for our government andeducators to face. The purposes of this study were to investigate elementarystudents' Internet safety literacy and to understand the key factors impactingelementary students' Internet safety literacy. The subjects were 6795 fifth andsixth graders of 12 8 elementary schools in Taiwan and questionnaires wereconducted to collect the data. The results showed that (1) the Internet safetyliteracy of fifth and sixth graders were above average, (2) there was a positivecorrelation between Internet safety knowledge and Internet safety behavior, (3)the important factors impacting elementary students' Internet safety literacyincluded students' Internet behaviors, parental involvement into children'sInternet activities, and the Internet using policy of school. |
