Since ancient times, there are various dragon stories in China. Along with the spread of Buddhism in China, more and more Indian dragon stories come to China. Those stories also spread to Japan. So there are lots of dragon stories in Japanese literature, especially in Konzyakumonogatarisyuu. Focusing our attention on Konzyakumonogatarisyuu, we are going to survey the role of dragon in Chinese and Japanese literatures, their connections, similarities and differences. Hope we'll have a better understanding of Chinese and Japanese literatures. |
