The making of cultural space and the feeding of culture to the countryside are two forms of the most common artistic intervention, but the power of ‘‘intervention’‘ should be closer to the ground below us. In this point, the dynamics of body become a keyword in community construction and spatial imagination. Through the discursive mapping of the sociality of art and the artistry of community, this paper maintains that the third discourse of ‘‘intervention’‘ is the reconstruction of representation theory in the context of postmodernism; that is, the technologization and medialization of the body. The recent literature review of German iconology and landscape studies shows that the body movement is either artistic creation or social practice in virtue of media technology. The body as technologized media is verified in some projects of community reconstruction in Shenzhen and contemporary China. |
