In 2010, NSPO continued to provide FORMOSAT-2 images in support of natural disaster and accident relief endeavors both domestically and globally. NSPO facilitated efforts in domestic disaster mitigation and decision making with its FORMOSAT-2 satellite images, in events such as the Jiaxian earthquake, National Freeway No. 3 and Suao landslides, search for missing trainer aircraft T-34 Mentor, oil spills along the Dayuan coastline, Gaomei wetland, and Penghu, as well as the series of industry safety events at the Mailiao Sixth Naphtha Cracker Plant(6-NCP) . Internationally, NSPO also contributed satellite images to support the management of catastrophes worldwide, such as the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Chile and Christchurch(New Zealand) earthquakes, Fujian(China) flood, Danube(Hungary) toxic sludge pollution, Guizhou(China) landslide, Eyjafjallajokull(Iceland) and Merapi(Indonesia) volcano eruptions, etc.
