Tom Regan, a well-known advocate, takes animal rights as his approach of theory. He claims that animals have inherent value and rights as long as they conform to the-subject-of-a-life criterion, and should be treated appropriately by human beings. This article will explain the foundation of animal rights theory, and discuss the rights as follow: the distinction between moral rights and legal rights, the relation of rights and obligations, the justification of animal rights. Finally, some opposite point of view which are against Regan's theory.
