This article aims to foster the development of design research project, which integrates product design and instructional design with research to develop 3D printing lessons plan based on the children's development and perspective. The growing STE(A)M education leads to interdisciplinary opportunities for the product designers who engage in translating design knowledge to creative practice. Thus, the author presents specific research methods to address ways of facilitating creative thinking and creating playful experience with 3D printing. This article also suggests exploring the participatory role of relevant product designers from the perspective of co-creation rather than passive service. Further, all the promising insights will be placed in the circle of research through design, which aims to develop, evaluate, and finally iterate the children's courses regarding creativity development through playful 3D printing-based co-creation. |
