Accompany with the booming rise of digital fabrication technology in the social application, massive artifacts are contributed as open source, and could be made in the digital fabrication environment. The open content is growing and becoming more complex, such as powered prosthetic hand. This approach highly requires the frequent attendance of external people to keep it updated, but many facts cause the attendees lost interest during the learning process. The electric prosthetic hand is a popular topic in the recent development of open source, but also meet the same barriers. Two workshops based on an open source of such prosthesis hand were hold and aimed for general university students, and they acted as attendees to make the prosthesis by following the tutorials. The recorded observation and post interview are applied on these attendees' feedback to identify the potential difficulties that cause they lost interest in the task, and corresponding design solutions are submitting for improving open content. |
